First Trip of the Season

Fidalgo Bay Resort

With crisp air and too short days, March in the PNW holds the promise of Spring even while still trying to act like Winter. In our opinion, it’s a good time for the first trip of the season. We also know plenty of folks who think March is still too cold to dewinterize the RV. Depending on your storage situation that’s totally valid. Luckily, Fidalgo Bay Resort offers several well-appointed cabins.

Massive pull-in waterfront sites seem like such a good idea as we walk along the sun dappled shores of Fidalgo Bay. Sharp, snow-capped mountains rise beyond the blue waves and a flotilla of stark, white sailboats decorate Guemes Channel. A well-used walking and biking trail divides Fidalgo Bay Resort, this Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail will eventually take you to the outskirts of Anacortes. We didn’t try the full trek this time around.

Like last year, we ended up doing this trip on St. Patrick’s Day weekend and this year ended up the same. A feast featuring Corned Beef and Cabbage felt like a good way to celebrate the holiday. A night spent around the fire, chatting, and laughing was a perfect nightcap.

3 Reasons to Love Fidalgo Bay Resort

  1. Pull-in waterfront sites (eventually, we will book one).
  2. A great walking/biking trail to Anacortes one way and over the bay another.
  3. Cabins.
