Coming out of Hibernation

It’s been a while since I’ve written anything. It’s not that I don’t have anything to write about, I just haven’t gotten around to writing. Winter definitely slows me down. With the arrival of spring and better weather my energy has returned, and we have started to get ready for this next camping season.

Project Vehicles

Since I last checked in, I have sold and bought a couple vehicles. The 1996 Toyota 4Runner project proved to be too much of a project I let it go back in February for what I had into it. At the end of March we took another trip to my uncle’s place in Bend and brought back his old 1977 Jeep CJ5. I’m pretty excited about that one and plan to write more about it. We took our Winnebago Chalet and towed the Jeep back. On the way south we stopped at Lake Simtustus and camped at Lake Billy Chinook, both incredible destinations that we plan to visit again soon.

Camping Trips

Over St Patrick’s Day weekend, we went camping at Fidalgo Bay with some friends. It’s become something of a tradition to start our camping season there since it’s so close to home and such a beautiful place. The weather was unseasonably nice and we had a great time.

RV Projects

April has been a productive month so far. I installed a small solar kit from Renogy on our motorhome. This is my first experience with solar, so it’s only set up to charge the house batteries at this point. I do plan to add a couple more panels and an inverter in the future.

Just today we installed a new awning on our Winnebago Chalet. We ordered it about a month ago from Carefree of Colorado after careful measurements. Installation was straightforward and we are excited to use it next weekend when we camp at Deception Pass.

Both Mrs. Mile and I will be writing more often in the coming months, about upcoming camping trips and future projects.
